Seasons Change

As I’m writing this, I am reflecting on the next chapter, the new season in my journey, and I also want to encourage you to evaluate where you are in your journey. It is so easy to get attached to a previous assignment, and that could cause us to miss what God wants to do in the next season of our lives.

I’m not saying this is my final blog post, but I certainly have not been writing and posting as much this year as I have over the last few years. The last few years…That sounds crazy to me because when I started this blog, after each post, I felt like there was nothing more for me to say. Fast forward to this…Blog post number 50. I still find it hard to believe I’ve written and shared so much.

The next chapter is my podcast, Wilderness to Wisdom. I knew, even before I started the blog, that I would host a podcast at some point. The vision I had for it was much different than what has actually come forth. Looking back, I see that it was about whether I would be willing to move forward when the time came to do it, regardless of whether it looked like what I had imagined or not.

That’s the thing about walking according to God’s will for our lives. Yes, we should have a vision. Scripture tells us that, but many times the vision we concoct comes forth from our carnal mind. Think about the times when you’ve heard from God to do something. Then consider how many times we tend to ignore, add to, or take away from it, based on what we’re comfortable with. Sometimes God just wants us to take one step before revealing the next one, but many of us tend to take that one step and then walk according to our plan, whether knowingly or unknowingly disregarding God’s plan.

As you reflect on where you are in your journey, consider whether you are on the path that God has for you or whether you chose it on your own. So many people unknowingly serve the god of their imagination, justifying what keeps them comfortable rather than God’s plan.

As I have been working on each episode, I can see how God has been preparing me for this new season. Podcasting, even doing an audio-only format, is a lot more work than blogging. I could have ignored the nudge from the Holy Spirit because my flesh wasn’t ready to step into this new chapter, but I’ve already been down that path before, so my reluctance to walk in obedience fades a lot more quickly than it used to.

Each step seems to take me deeper. When I started this blog, I felt like God gave me all the words for my first several blog posts, then it was just a few words, then just a title. So with each step, I had to do more, but all of the work is done from a place of rest. As you put on the nature of Christ, you learn to cease from your own works, enter into His rest, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead. That is where you find joy and authentic peace.

Thanks for reading! I’m so glad you stopped by today. For more reflections on faith, purpose, and spiritual growth, check out my Wilderness to Wisdom podcast — available here on my site, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other podcast platforms.
